A bit of a ramble and then a question…

I saw a post on facebook today that said that The Blackdog tribe was looking for people to write a guest blog for their site. Now me being me thought ‘Why not’ and sent them an email saying I was interested. They’ve asked me about myself and what I would be happy to write about…poor woman probably didn’t know what she was in for when she asked me that!

Ohhh it’s like a job interview! hmmmm well I’m 28 from Yorkshire. I work as a support worker for adults with learning difficulties part time and love it (most of the time!). I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety since I was a child and after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 4 years ago it all came to a head and I finally went to ask for help when my MS nurse pushed me in the GP’s direction. I was diagnosed with an adjustment disorder but after some time in a psych ward they also said I showed borderline personality traits though they didn’t explain it was a disorder all by itself and I’m now being referred back to psych to find out what on earth I can do about it lol. I write about a lot of different things from how I cope with day to day life, work etc to past experiences and how I got through them though that’s mostly to try and organise those memories in my own head when they take over. I’m at the point now where I don’t want to have to hide my problems from people and my blog is a way of trying to make sure I can talk about it.

So lets see possible topics…I did recently write a post for World suicide awareness day about my experience of being suicidal though it could be quite triggering, Social anxiety and how I tackled it, pets as therapy and how my dog gave me a reason to live, time on a psych ward, personal relationships when you have BP traits, physical problems and their links to mental health issues…or any other suggestions you come up with I’ll have a try :)”
Too much? lol ah well I got this reply
“Thanks for your email.  Perhaps you should consider writing a book!.   You have some great ideas.   I think you need to think about what you are most comfortable writing about.   We are happy to be guided by you.”
However I’m now stuck as to the best idea…so here’s the question and where I could do with your help.
Should I suggest:
b) How my dog gave me reason to live
c) Personal relationships when you have BP traits
d) Mental health problems linked to MS
e) any other suggestions!
Any input gratefully received 🙂

  1. Personally, I’d like to hear about your dog and how he gave you a reason to live. I love stories about good people / animals having gigantic impacts on people’s lives… But I don’t know if that’s just my preference…. xx

  2. I’d like to read C myself. Although one about your dog would probably be most popular, I’d probably be voting for the dog but that my cat has destroyed so much stuff today that I’m in a mood with the animal kingdom.

    1. Uh oh the kitten has been misbehaving! I have those days with Toby believe me lol and he’s at least 7yrs old so past the chewing and scratching and defecating everywhere stage 😛

    1. Thankyou 🙂 I think some of the info has leaked through in posts but I’ve never really done a ‘this is me!’ post lol. Hmmm B is what I was leaning towards too 😛 xx

  3. Nice to know so much about you. I also have MS and depression both for the last umpteen years, so I can relate to your post. Why limit yourself? Write all of them! I’d be personally interested in (d). I wonder in my case which came first?

    1. It’s a real chicken and egg situation a lot of the time! I know I’ve had mental health issues my whole life but the MS really made things awful to the point of being unbearable. I think a lot of MSers end up seeing someone from liason psychiatry at some point or other which isn’t surprising when you look at what we put up with! Hmmm I think I will write them all and see which one turns out best 🙂
